Sherifia Heron, MD

Dr. Heron founded Lake Erie Behavioral Health in 2017 to provide a more personal and integrative approach to mental health treatment for the Lake Erie community. She strives to remove as many barriers as possible between his patients and their achievement of mental health.

She believes strongly in treating the whole person, and so she will spend time understanding each patient’s individual and unique needs before setting forward a treatment plan tailored to those specific needs.. Depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, addiction and various other conditions are often inherited through genetics, but life circumstances and unhealthy ways of thinking worsen these conditions and their associated symptoms. Dr. Heron works with her clients to explore healthy lifestyle techniques, including techniques to improve sleep conditions and to incorporate healthy nutrition and exercise along with the judicious use of medications.

She believes in fostering a spirit of collaboration with a patient’s other doctors and psychotherapists. Dr. Heron believes that a thorough psychiatric diagnostic evaluation is crucial for developing a successful treatment plan, because by determining the correct diagnosis early on, an appropriate treatment can be initiated, thereby starting the patient on a road to recovery.
